Jeremiah 9:1-26

1 It is one thing to weep over one's own judgment/destruction - as did Cain over his judgment and Esau's over his. It is another thing to weep over one's own sin – as did Peter after he denied Jesus. Jeremiah goes beyond this to weep over the sins of the people and further still to weep over their judgment.

This is the same group we saw in 6:9-11 - crying out for judgment/ vengeance. In 6:9 they were under altar where the priest pours the blood of the sacrificial victim. They are in a place where they remember their brutal death. What they had experienced was the victory of evil over good/Satan over saints (cf. 13:7). In heaven, but in place of death/cry out.

Respect is not necessarily a feeling, it’s an attitude. A feeling is an emotion, but an attitude is a frame of mind. It’s almost impossible to maintain a certain emotion, but it’s very possible to maintain certain attitudes/frames of mind.
